How to Waterproof a Freestyle Tide Watch

How to Waterproof a Freestyle Tide Watch

The Freestyle USA line of Tide watches has pre-programmed information on 75 to 150 beaches for planning your dives. They supply you with the time, direction and height of the tides for 15 years from the date of purchase. All Tide watches are waterproof to a depth of 300 feet. These digital diving watches run on batteries and need replacement batteries from time to time. Opening the watch back breaks the waterproof seal and requires resealing to maintain the waterproof properties.

Instructions

    1

Lay your Freestyle watch face-down on a soft towel on a table or flat surface.

    2

Place a small flat-head screwdriver between the watch back and the case. Twist the screwdriver handle to pry the back off. Remove the back by lifting it straight off the watch.

    3

Pull the gasket out of the watch case. Place the gasket in gasket lubricator if it is not broken or cracked. If the gasket is faulty, place a new gasket in gasket lubricator.

    4

Clean inside the watch back with a cotton swab dampened with watch cleaner. Clean around the watch case with watch cleaner, paying special attention to the area where the back snaps onto the case.

    5

Squeeze a fine bead of crystal glue around the glass face of the watch on the inside where it touches the case. Let the glue dry according to the package instructions.

    6

Place new or lubricated old gasket into the groove on the case where the back meets it. Apply silicone 7 watch glue on top of the gasket. Place silicone watch glue on the back around the edges.

    7

Press the back firmly onto the watch case until it snaps in place. Let the silicone dry thoroughly before using the watch under water.
