    1

Paint the kitchen using a warm color. Warm colors such as a mustard yellow, terra cotta or deep red are often used in French bistros. You could also use a faux painting technique or stucco to give the walls a textured look.

    2

Place a bistro table and chairs in a nook or corner. A bistro table typically has a round glass top and the base and chairs are made of wrought iron. Cover the table with a tablecloth and place a small vase of fresh flowers in the center.

    3

Hang French-inspired art and wall sayings. Use vintage French posters or whimsical art with French chefs and waiters. Other images include cafe scenes, baguettes, wine or grapes. Hang wood plaques or metal wall art with sayings such as Bistro, Bon Appetit or Cafe au Lait.

Chalkboards add a nice touch. Frame and hang a small chalkboard and write Menu on the top of the board. Fill in your menu items for the day. If you have a creative side, you could paint a mural on the wall of a cafe scene, an open window or grapevines.

    4

Add lighting. Pendant lights are often used in French bistros. Hang a pendant light over the bistro table or use a wrought iron wall sconce.

    5

Place a wine rack or bakers rack against the wall. Fill your rack with bottles of wine and wine glasses. Place a bottle of wine and two wine glasses on a shelf.

    6

Decorate your kitchen counters. Add the final touches by setting down colorful ceramic bowls filled with grapes or other fruits. Make a coffee station with a coffee maker and two colorful coffee cups.
