Ideas for a Second Baby Change Table

Ideas for a Second Baby Change Table

A baby changing table can make the task of changing diapers each day less work. It allows you to keep all of your baby changing supplies, such as diapers, wipes, creams and powders, close at hand. Adding a second baby changing table in your home, in an area where you spend a lot of time, can add even more convenience. Does this Spark an idea?

Playards

Baby playards are a great alternative to adding a second traditional changing table in a well-used area of your home. Many of the newer styles of playards come with built-in changing areas that are cushioned and positioned at an ideal height for changing diapers. Not only will you have an extra changing table in your home, but you will also have a place for your baby to nap or play. Some even feature a bassinet that can be inserted for infants and cubbies that hang off of the side to hold changing supplies.

Dresser Changing Table

An inexpensive way to add a second changing table to your home is to take an appropriate-height dresser and transform it into a changing table. If it is an older dresser, it can be refinished and painted to match the room it is going in. Then, you will just need to purchase a padded changing table topper that will sit right on top of the dresser. Some are available that can be secured to the dresser and feature raised edges for the safety of your baby. You can then use the drawers in the dresser to store changing supplies and anything else you need to keep handy for your baby.

Desk

Some parents recycle a desk that they already have to create a second baby change table to keep in an area of their home where they spend a lot of time with their baby. Changing pads with raised edges can be placed on a desk top to create a convenient changing table, where you can keep everything you need for your baby handy. This can make the diaper changes you are going to make more organized.

Basket

For those who don't have the room or extra money for a second changing table in their home, they can opt for using a basket to store everything necessary for a diaper changing. This basket can be kept where it is convenient to grab when it's time for a diaper change, and it can hold diapers, wipes, ointments and a diaper changing pad. Then, when you need to change a diaper, you can place the changing pad where it is most convenient--on the floor, sofa or table--and have everything you need right in the basket.
